Sony DVW-M2000P (2000s)

Sony DVW-M2000P

This video tape recorder came from Turkey and I got it for a good price, but it's not in the best condition. Part of the front display is not functional and when powering on the device, it shows ERR-96 which indicates an error with the NV-RAM in the device. It has very low head drum hours so that's a bonus.

It is important to distinguish this model from similar models. If the model name contains the letter M, it means it is a Multiformat model that can play back multiple formats; if it doesn't have M in the name, it can only record and play back Digital Betacam format. If it contains the letter P, it means it is a PAL standard device; if it doesn't have P in the name, it is an NTSC standard device.

The Sony DVW-M2000P is a highly sought-after video tape recorder for digitization. It has a large number of features and is very durable. It supports playback of the following video formats:

  • Betacam
  • Betacam SP
  • Betacam SX
  • MPEG IMX
  • Digital Betacam

In addition to playback, it can also record Digital Betacam video to tapes.

  • Video inputs: Composite, Component, SDI
  • Video outputs: Composite, Component, SDI
  • Audio outputs: SDI (Embedded), AES/EBU, Analog XLR
  • Audio inputs: SDI (Embedded), AES/EBU, Analog XLR
